This was my first StyleCon experience, and I would TOTALLY do it again!
(By the way, the outfit I'm sharing in this post is what I wore for StyleCon) It was so amazing to be in a room with so many women with common goals and dreams. I left feeling encouraged, and more motivated than ever! The women that I heard speak were so uplifting. I really think this is a message that you guys may enjoy, because I know that it really stuck with me. I'm paraphrasing here, but this is basically what was delivered... It's easy to look at your following, your likes, your outfits, and compare them to other influencers. There will ALWAYS be bloggers with a larger following, or that wear more expensive clothes, or that seem to have it all together, but you DO have a following, and they matter! Whether you have 100 followers, or 100 million followers, you still have people that are looking to you! Staying true to yourself is what will draw more followers, so don't try to compare yourself, or be like someone else. Be confident in your style and who you are. We all have to be at 100 followers before we can reach 100 million :) I know I struggle from time to time because building your following isn't an easy or quick process. It can get SO frustrating! I've caught myself having thoughts about giving up on my blog, or thinking that no one cares what I'm posting and that I may just be wasting my time. Has anyone else ever had those thoughts?! I absolutely love blogging, I love fashion/beauty, and I love all of you! So I have to remind myself of WHY I'm doing this. It's not to have the most followers, or the most likes. It's to live out my passion, and to be an influence to someone. If I can encourage one person, or make one person's day a little brighter, than it's all worth it. So remember WHY you are doing what you're doing. Remind yourself that you ARE making progress, and that you are influencing. IT's easy to forget sometimes! So that's my pep talk for the day! I hope you all are encouraged to pursue what you love, and to not give up. You ARE making a difference! ***I'm talking more about StyleCon below!***
Now I'm going to share the fun stuff from StyleCon :)
There were SO many amazing brands there, y'all! From apparel to lipsticks to popsicles, lol, they had it all! Oh and how cute is my mom in the pictures below?! lol She is always so sweet to come to these events with me! Well she is my BFF, so who else would I bring, haha! I am all about beauty products and looking and feeling my best. I love trying new makeup, hair colors/styles, and beauty trends, BUT this can get expensive! Nothing makes me happier than finding a beauty shortcut to save myself some money. I'm sharing with you guys five beauty hacks that I use that are totally budget friendly!
1. Use Lipstick as Liner
Am I the only one that tries a million beauty products before finding the perfect one? I can't even tell you how much money I have spent trying to find THE lip liner to match with all of my favorite nude lippies. After many failed attempts, I finally just decided to use one of my favorite lip crayons AS a liner, and now it's the perfect liner! So save yourself a little cash and don't be scared to use your lippies as liners!
Below, you can shop my favorite lip combo lately. I use the treStiQue lip crayon (color: Florence Fig) as my liner, and then the NXY lip cream (color: 595) on the inside of my lips. I then do a little blotting to blend the two a little bit and it turns into a beautiful nude/pink lip :)

2. Press on Nails
Yes, I said press on nails, lol. I'm sure the last time you used these bad boys you were 5 years old and they had Polly Pocket and Barbie printed all over them, haha! I was always OBSESSED with these as a little girl. Obvi because I wanted to look just like my mom :)
I recently tried these Nail Bliss press on nails and OMG, they are bomb! I wouldn't recommend them if you're wanting a week's worth of wear, but if you have a special occassion, these are so great! They usually last about 3-4 days for me. Did I mention you can get an entire set for less than $10? They have lots of different colors and shapes, and they take less than 5 minutes to put on. I was a little nervous about them at first because I have super tiny fingers and nails, but they fit perfect and aren't at all too long. Saves so much money and time!

3. Do Your Own Lashes
I know lashes and brows are a big deal these days. I can't really say much now because I currently have lash extensions, haha, BUT when I am trying to cut a few things in my budget they're the first to go!
I'm all about a DIY, so if you don't want to get involved with lash extensions or serum to grow your lashes, try some glue on lashes, or individual lashes that will give you that luscious lash look. Then top them with a thin coat of L'Oreal Voluminous mascara. This is the perfect solution for special occasions.

4. Self Tanner
No need to spend hours laying out, or pay for a tanning membership, ladies! I am ALLLL about self tanner! I used to tan in the tanning beds before I realized how horrible it was for me. THEN I moved to spray tans, but those get expensive. I finally tried this tanning mousse from St. Tropez, and it was a total game changer! You simply put a few pumps of the mousse onto your tanning mitt (linked below), and rub it into your skin. One day I went to Ulta to get my St. Tropez tanner, and they were sold out, UGH! So I tried this St. Moriz brand and actually like it just as much! ANDDDD it's a lot less expensive (only $12.99)! If you don't like the mousse formula, you can always try the mist or the lotion. The mousse just happens to be my favorite. I get the color: Dark.

5. Brighten Your Locks w/o the Salon
I recently got a balayage and I absolutely love it! BUT my hair tends to pull a brassy color no matter if it's blonde or brown. To keep it bright and less brassy, I like to use this Shimmer Lights purple shampoo. I used to think I needed to run to the salon to get it redone every time it got brassy, but turns out this little shampoo will postpone your next trip to the salon (which saves some major money)!
I use this Shimmer Lights Shampoo a few times each week and don't leave it in my hair any longer than a minute. You don't wan to leave this in your hair for very long because you may just end up with purple locks! My mom is a blonde and keeps her hair highlighted and SWEARS by this stuff. It's also super affordable and has lasted me a while!

Who else is excited about spoiling their mama?!? I LOVE giving gifts, (and also love my mom, haha) so I am so excited for a day dedicated to her! I think I've had her Mother's Day gift for nearly a month now :) I would totally tell y'all what I got her, but chances are, she is reading this post ;) My mom and I have always been super close (I am the only girl, so we have a very special relationship). Now that I am older, our relationship has evolved, and she is now my very best friend! Oh, and if you've ever seen my mom, you'd totally think we were sisters - she is beautiful inside and out, and doesn't look a day over 25 ;) (I would say all of this even if she wasn't going to read this post, lol). Anyways, I am so happy to get to celebrate her every Mother's Day. She is always so selfless, and deserves a day to feel important, loved, and totally pampered! I know all of our moms are different, and understand that MY mom might like everything in the photo above, yet other moms may not! xoxo,
For the past few years I have been growing my hair out, trying to get it long, strong, and healthy. I am all about any hair product that can help me reach my goals, so I've been testing out the Eva NYC shampoo and conditioner. I had heard great things about it, but of course needed to trying it for myself. To my surprise, it has become one of my favorite shampoos! I truly feel like my hair feels thicker, and shinier when I use it. So let me just say that I by no means have the ideal hair. For my entire life I have hoped and prayed that maybe one day I would wake up with a new head of hair, lol. Truly though, my hair is extremely thin, frizzy, curly, and coarse. I have been on a major hair journey due to consistent bleaching and clip-in extensions, and am quite proud of where it's at now. I baby it, and want to use the best products for my hair type. In all honesty, this shampoo and conditioner duo has quickly become one of my favorites. Why, you ask?The smell is absolutely AMAZING (I'm all about fragrance). It's a little bit vanilla with a hint of lavender (at least that's what it smells like to me, haha. Another factor that I usually look for in my hair care is if it has any anti-frizz effect. Lord knows I need all the help I can get! I'm so happy to say that my hair looks and feels sleek and shiny! WOOHOO! Lastly, who WOULDN'T want to buy this stuff just from the adorable packaging?! I'm pretty sure my eyes only see pink, haha. Any-who, I strongly suggest this shampoo & conditioner set. It can be purchased at your local Costco, and comes in the giant pump bottles (does this make anyone else excited? lol). Go get yourself some, and let me know how you like it! xoxo,
Hello loves! Today I am going to be reviewing my NEW FAVORITE hair care product. It's called Function of Beauty, and it's personalized shampoo and conditioner!!!! You heard me!!! And yes, it's amazing. My Hair JourneySo I've had a little bit of a hair journey, and I've really been trying to get the healthiest and most natural version of my hair for the past few years. I have very thin and fine hair, and several years ago I started wearing clip in extensions to make my hair appear thicker and longer. I was also a blonde at the time, so you can image the damage, lol. When I first started wearing the extensions, I would literally get stopped by random people, and they would tell me how beautiful my locks were (little did they know it was a weave, haha). Soooo, obviously I kept wearing them. I got so addicted to the bleach and extensions that my hair literally fried off! It was unbelievably thin, and broken. Of course, I saw my hair in its natural state everyday, so I really didn't realize HOW bad it was, until I revealed it to my college roommates. I realized it was TRULY a problem when I saw their initial reaction. I got to the point where I couldn't go without the extensions because my hair was THAT bad, and of course I was self-conscious. My sweet husband (boyfriend at the time) finally talked me into throwing the extensions away for good, getting my hair cut short, and dying it back to my natural hair color. It was the hardest thing ever because I was so self conscious, but I am so thankful I did it. Needless to say, I have really been babying my locks to get it back to its natural state, and this Function of Beauty shampoo and conditioner is truly giving it life! What is Function of Beauty?I recently discovered this brand, and I am a little obsessed with it, lol. I have told all of my friends about it because I think everyone needs it, haha! Function of Beauty is a line of personalized shampoo and conditioner. https://www.functionofbeauty.com/ Once on their website, you take a quick hair quiz. They ask you about your hair type (ex: frizzy, curly, straight, fine, etc.), your hair goals (ex: anti frizz, damage repair, etc.), and then you pick a color, and a scent for your shampoo and conditioner! Of course I picked the color pink ;) and then I picked Sandalwood Lavender for my scent. But I am ALL about personalization, so this seriously excites me! ReviewIt took about two weeks to get my shampoo after ordering it online. This felt like forever, but I know they are special making my product, so I decided to cut them some slack ;)
When you get it, it comes in a pretty mint colored box (great packaging), and it's simply glorious when you open the box! You products are laid out, and there is a print-out of your hair quiz, and directions on how to use the products. My first time using it I was a little skeptical. The scent smells good, but a little more earthy (for lack of better words) than the scents I am usually drawn to. The shampoo smells a little more like Sandalwood, and the conditioner more like Lavender. The BUT when I finished washing and conditioning, my hair smelt amazing! I knew this stuff was great when I got out of the shower and began to let my hair air dry.... NO FRIZZ! Seriously y'all, I have SUCH frizzy hair, and lots of curl. Usually when I let my hair air dry, it becomes a puff ball in 2.5 seconds. Not this time thoughhhhhh ;) I decided to blow dry it a little to see what it did, and it looked so silky and soft, for once in my life, lol. THEN, the topper to the whole story was that my husband immediately noticed, and told me how long and silky my hair looked. UMMM OKKEYYYY! I'm just gonna whip my hair back and forth real quick! Haha! Anyways, I seriously love this stuff, and I'm such a fan! I totally recommend it for you girls that struggle with frizz, or just need a little hair help. I hope you guys enjoyed this review! Now go get yourself some new shampoo! ;) |
